Lane Cove, NSW — removing load-bearing walls to open up a two-storey home.
An internal alterations project that transformed the ground floor of a two-storey home into bright, open-plan living.
We designed the structural scheme to remove the internal load-bearing walls and open up the space, introducing steel beams and posts to carry the upper-floor and roof loads down to the existing footings. The 3D structural model below shows the arrangement — primary and secondary steel beams (green and red) supported on steel posts (blue) and the existing masonry walls.
Alongside the structural works, the project included floor leveling, a new kitchen and new upstairs plumbing. The finished result is a seamless, contemporary open-plan kitchen and living area — with all the structural work hidden in the ceiling above.
Wall removals, steel beams and certificates — handled by the engineer directly.
